INHALE: I AM

EXHALE: STRESSLESS

There are two types of mints you never turn down in life: breath mints and compliments.  Either way someone is trying to tell you something.

Prana – breath

Yama – control

Yogis believe Pranayama is essential for Stillness of the Mind

Control the breath  – Control the Mind

Why is it so important to control the mind?  Well, what we think we become, as we learned in our earlier blogs.  Imagine being able to train our minds so that it works with us instead of against us. Goodnight Drama, Hello Bliss!

So many times we hear people say, just take a deep breath.  How annoying is that?  What does that mean and how is this going to help ward off stress.  But if we think about it, what happens when we become stressed?  Our heart rate increases, our breathing becomes faster and shallower, our thoughts run wild.  Now throw in heavy rains, running late for work, can’t find a cab anywhere and we’ve got the perfect recipe for a herpes on our lip.  Life has twists and turns  -we don’t wanna be riding it with a herpes on our lip.  Always remember and never forget there will always be someone with more stress than you – less stress than you. So DON’T STRESS YOURSELF OUT.  (thanks stressless in nyc)

Close your eyes.

Inhale for the count of OM 1, OM 2, OM 3, OM 4 and now Exhale OM 1, OM 2, OM 3, OM 4.

Add whichever mantra you like to this or KISS it (keep it simple silly) with counting.  Either way, we can’t stress enough how important controlling our breath is.

The best part about  meditation is that we can do it anywhere.   Whether in the serenity of  our homes, on the train, bus, cab, yoga mat, in the shower, and in the rain! However, while operating heavy machinery, meditation is strongly ill-advised. It’s said we breathe 20,000 times a day — SO many opportunities to send out love, peace, and inspiration.

Just close your eyes and focus on the space between your eye brows, your third-eye and the window to your imagination and INHALE I Am, EXHALE Stressless. Rinse, Breathe, Repeat (no matter where you may be).
